Abstract

This study aims to develop a web-based medium as a learning tool for early literacy in children aged 5–6 years. The research is motivated by the need for innovation in literacy education in the digital era and the gap between traditional methods and the demands of interactive education. The study employs the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) and uses a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test. A total of 60 children from three kindergartens participated over a four-week implementation period. The results showed a significant improvement in the children’s reading and writing abilities, as evidenced by a paired t-test score of t = –7.85 (p < 0.001) and a large effect size (Cohen's d = 1.2). These findings are supported by feedback from teachers and parents, indicating that the web-based media is engaging, accessible, and suitable for young learners. The study concludes that web-based media is effective in enhancing early literacy skills and provides an enjoyable and interactive learning experience for children. It is recommended that digital media be more widely adopted in early childhood education, supported by intensive teacher training and parental guidance to foster a synergistic learning environment between school and home.
