Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of Educational and Training Institutions (ETIs) in developing career development models to address the issue of frictional unemployment in Indonesia. According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) in 2023, Indonesia's open unemployment rate (TPT) remains relatively high at 5.32%. Frictional unemployment, caused by the mismatch between job seekers and employers, accounts for 79.90% of the total unemployment. A descriptive method is used to analyze the career services provided by ETIs in Bandung and Cimahi, focusing on how they prepare students to enter the workforce. The findings indicate that the career development model implemented by ETIs aims to equip students with both technical skills and soft skills necessary for Industry 4.0. This study concludes that enhancing training programs at ETIs can reduce frictional unemployment and improve students' career readiness. It is recommended that ETIs focus more on improving training quality and developing skills that align with industry needs.
