Abstract

The philosophy of education plays a role in encouraging students to improve their analytical goals to investigate the significance of critical and creative thinking in the context of learning. Critical and creative thinking skills have an important role in facing the challenges of globalization in 21st century education. This study aims to examine comprehensive insights into the important role of philosophy of education on critical and creative thinking in designing learning strategies. The research method used is qualitative with a literature review approach, literature search using the Google Scholar database, ScienceDirect, Sage Journal, and books on the topic of the role of philosophy on critical and creative thinking in the 21st century education era. The results of the study present that the role of philosophy in education is to offer direction and guidance when educational ideas are developed into educational science. The involvement of the role of philosophy in critical thinking to analyze various dimensions, perspectives, and factors before arriving at a solution, then passive recipients of information become active investigators and problem solvers, decision makers, and responsible. The role of philosophy in improving creative thinking is related to the competence of how to channel thoughts in solving a problem. So that the role of philosophy becomes the core idea of ​​didactics for creative thinking. This research concept can provide a number of implications for improving teaching methods that empower students to critical thinking, creative thinking, and reflectively in the changing and developing times that are constantly changing.
